Congressional Energy Engagement and Michelle Amante-Harstine had the honor and privilege of bringing together the Romanian delegation for a private dinner discussion fostering dialogue that focused on the advancements of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology and enhancing regional energy security. This significant gathering served as a platform for introducing Romania’s new Minister of Energy, H.E. Sebastian Burduja, and delving into discussions that hold profound implications for the Black Sea region and beyond.
Guests of honor from Romania included H.E. Minister of Energy Sebastian Burduja, H.E. Ambassador Andrei Muraru, Mr. Cosmin Ghita, CEO Nuclearelectrica and many additional esteemed guests from Romania along with guests of honor from the United States the Honorable Kathryn Huff U.S. Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Energy Assistant Secretary; Dr. Michael Goff,Deputy Assistant Secretary Office of Nuclear Energy; Aleshia Duncan, Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Nuclear Energy Policy and Cooperation; Joyce Connery, Chair of the U.S. Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board; U.S. Members of Congress including Chuck Flesichmann (TN), Doug LaMalfa (CA), Victoria Spartz (IN), Brandon Williams (NY) and Joe Wilson (SC) among many distinguished guests from both nations including experts on new nuclear status and developers.
The discussions were pivotal and highlighted the need for continued collaboration and mutual understanding between Romania and the United States in the field of nuclear energy and regional security.
